you are not only replacing the stikc, but also the electronic module that sits below it - basically you are messing around with the elcetronics, that is what they say...
Ok, but if the car will go fine .. Which is the problem with your dealer ?
If they make you trouble, reinstall the previous stick before bringing the car .

syed,
After some investigation, it's not possible to switch this for pre-LCI.

hi my530i,

i was always talking about lci models with teh normal joystick. I know it is a bit confusing because i own a pre-lci model but I am currently looking into replacing mine with a lci model. but since i am not taking one of the powerful engines, I am not allowed to take SAT, and therefore am forced to live with the "uglier" joystick that comes standard with the non-SAT models...

Hoon - one question and I would appreciate if you could try this out on your car.

If you drive the car in the manual mode and change gears by shift up or down, you see how quickly the gears change by seeing how quickly the revs drop. If you do the same with the sports button pressed, do you see a difference? do the gears change faster, or is the reaction faster?

i know you are in teh drive-in period, but this homework should actually not affect the engine whatsoever...

tnx

I'll test it when I get a chance, and let you know.

I strongly recommend this mod to anyone who has LCI E60 or new X5 without SAT option.
I am just one of many people who have done this mod here in Korea, and other poeple who have done this mod are all more than 120% satisfied, not only from the look of the shifter but also from it's functionality. Go for it!! You won't regret a bit.
Hoon, great to see another Korean in Korea that is a member of this forum! Your mod is a lifesaver! Honestly! I have a 528i M Sport on order and I wanted to do the SAT mod. Now that I see you've done it, I'm going to get it done when I take delivery of my car. BTW, how much did the mod cost in Korea?

1) cannot comment because never driven in manual mode yet. Please understand that my car is still in break-in period.
2) hard to comment because I don't remember how the shifting speed was with the normal automatic shifter.
3) MY2008
4) Ask him! My installer's website -> http://cafe.daum.net/09garage (SAT mod related page -> http://cafe.daum.net/09garage/9v3v/65 -> you can see the pics of my car here!) The owner of the shop speaks English!
5) No
6) normal-yes, manual-yes, sports-no, only "DS"
7) No

I just checked the website of the installer that did the SAT retrofit for Hoon... He charges about US$ 1200.00 for parts and install!
