Removing Intake "Grill"

Anyone have any luck removing this little grill they have in the intake?

I tried pulling, pushing, and using the tabs on top..no go for all 3

Edit: This pic is from a 550, it's a little diff on the 545

why do you guys want to remove this? it is keeping large depri (ie. leaves) from going into the intake box. It doesn't look like it will prevent air flow, but if a guy really wants to remove it I guess you could always take a drimmal to it and cut out the mesh.
