I would love to remote start my car in the Canadian winters to keep me warm. Can it be done with our cars with the smart keys?

I've check every shop in my city and no one is willing to even try because of the idrive, I have seen a shop do it in a e46 but thats the closest thing.

 

Maybe Viper Smartstart system?...they sell them at bestbuy now..if best buy will install it for you..i would find the product alot cheaper somewhere else and have bestbuy to install it ..hope it helps

 

You dont let anyone near the bmw that works at bestbuy. I had a guy interested in doing a remote starter in mys 530xi but with all the add on stuff you have to buy 900.00 was not worth it to me.

 

$900! Wow... I was told at the place I got my windows tinted they didn't have a bypass yet for the car and couldn't do it. Maybe bypass isn't the right term, but anyways.. This sucks, I really would like to be able to warm this car up before I get into it..

 

yes i totally agree.. i would love to have a remote start in my car especially with the cold weather coming in new york. ive been to a couple of places and they said it could possible be done but with the push button start only.
