You went straight pipes from the cat-back, no resonators in place? I can imagine the resonance in the cabin. I've been in torquey5's 550i and he still has all three resonators while deleting the muffler and it drones a bit, though he'll deny it.

Aren't you a performance oriented guy? If you don't have any crossover whether it's a H or X-pipe, you're going to lose a lot of backpressure.
