problem the phone??

My Ride: 04 530i w/nav
I have an 04 530 and just had my software updated. My car came with bluetooh but it wasn't enabled. After the update I could pair my phone, make a phone call, hear the person, but they could NOT hear me. My voice activation works so I don't think it's the mic. I switched the 2 mics to see the difference and there was none. Voice activation still worked and phone didn't. Anyone have any ideas. Is there a possibility the phone is muted somehow??

start with deleting the pairing completely on both the car and the phone.
reset the idrive and the phone
retry the pairing
see if it works...
