The 6+ is a rather large phone, so I do not keep it in my pocket often. I needed someplace to mount it in the car. I wasn't paying the $60 for the official E60 mount so I made my own with some 20 gauge stainless and some Plastidip spray paint. I bent up the stainless so it had a very slight spring tension to grip on to the trim piece. Works perfectly for my needs. The holder is a Ram gripper with the needed accessories purchased from Amazon for about $40.
Pictures where taken by my daughter while we were driving home from volleyball practice, so no, I wasn't being unsafe. I made mention that I was going to post it up and she was geeked about taking the pictures. Kids kill me sometimes.
I've been meaning to replace the bolts with something less "industrial" looking, but just haven't taken the time......

Timmay: Cool. I've got the expensive, but very well built, Proclip mounting system, which is a similar mount style as yours. Why not plasti dip the bolts too? Might be fine that way.
Rice Rocket, what's the magnetic mount? Link to it? I've got a vent mount in my other car, which is ok, and it's called the Kenu Airframe Plus for the iPhone 6.

I've had similar before.. but the phone was big and huge bumps would knock it off.. this one has a strong magnet that holds onto it.. a nice rubberized piece that goes into the vent.

Yeah I was worried the magnet might be too strong since it had to hold the big phone. There are two pieces of metal you can use.. round and square. I notice it's great to hold/slide the phone off the magnet. It is hard to pull it directly off. Either way, you throw it on there and it works.. like a magnet.. and I can rotate it a bit and move it. I LOVE the magnet holder..

Oh I guess to add.. the only downside is the vents position relative to the unlock/hazards.. and the HVAC controls.. I used to keep it horizontal for the gps, but have gone vertical like the OP has pictures of, just so it blocks less. Plus I have also realized now that it is hot.. that having it on the driver's side blocks the vent entirely.. although my phone always stays cold.. I sweat.. I moved it to the passenger side for that Second reason
