I see there is a lot of interest in the pre LCI to LCI halogen head lights conversion, so i found it interesting to start a topic about the whole process.
It will be much appreciated that others chime in so we can make the swap as easy as possible.
Come on!

What do we need for making the cables:
2x 61.13.6.931.864 Socket housing 12 pol (LCI conection)
9x 61.13.6.901.728 Terminal socket MQS ELA (0.75-1.5 mm˛)
3x 61.13.8.364.838 Socket contact ELO-Power 2,8x0,63 (1.0-2.5mm˛)
1x 61.13.6.913.653 Covering cap 12 pol (for socket)
4x 61.13.8.366.245 Sealing grommet (0.5-0.75 mm˛)
3x 61.13.8.372.626 Rubber grommet ELO-Power 2,8x0,63 (1.0-2.5 mm˛)
5x 61.13.8.353.706 Rubber grommet (0.75 mm˛)
14x 61.13.0.007.572 Round plug-in contact 2.5 ELA with cable (1.0-2.5 mm˛)
As of the LCI head lights the conection is made by only one plug, where the pre LCI uses 2 separated plugs. The plug can not be removed from the light unit without damage, so we take a cableset designed for the E46, E53, E85, E86. But hey, if it works...

It appears that on the HELLA Online Catalogus item numbers from the Head lights are different in Europe and America.

Received my head lights today.
Opening the package...
I am WTF: Only one projector!
After calling the stealer (and accusing him of grand theft), it seems that the HELLA Catalogus is showing the wrong picture!
Proof:
2007/07 LCI 520d (Loaner)
I'm waiting for respons from HELLA Belgium regarding the mis information.
To be continued...

This pic is the real Bi-Xenon LCI ... I retrofitted this kind upgraded my pre-LCI halogen ... the smaller round reflector is not in use for anything just look-a-like projector.
Notice the difference of the ring on the bigger lens projector ... Xenon has shiny ring while the Halogen not so shiny.

I believe you will still get error by joining the 2 cables ... you will need resistor ... but that's just my opinion ... you'll find out when you do the actual install.
iDrive looking for resistance on each of the 5 watt as you probably already know the resistance of 10 watt is not exactly the same as 2x5 watt.
GL!

Why the hard way ... just use retrofit cable set from BMW p/n 61-12-0-432-110 it has all the LCI plugs + the socket contacs + rubber gromets & etc.
You still have to cut the pre-LCI plug and rewire into the LCI plug ... there's no actual converter adapter from pre-LCI plug -> LCI plug.
This is what the retrofit cable kit look like http://forums.5serie...acelift-lights/
