Is it possible to "Upgrade" ECU on 520d from 163 to 177/183

As topic really.
Does anybody know if it's possible to code/download/change ECU software on a 520d with the 163hp/340Nm version to the newer 520d with 177hp/183hp and 380Nm?
I believe the engines are basically similar (but I might be wrong).
I know you can get a chip etc. to get the same power. But would rather prefer BMW's software.
