Buy a pack of asphalt roofing shingles and put them in the trunk. You can always use one if you get stuck on ice or snow. A bag of sand isn't as good because it absorbs moisture which promotes rusting.

Wait... On snow could be useful as well, but I'm referring to normal drive (even in summer): bends, mountains, etc. Plus less spinning at the traffic light.
And 20-30-40 Kg are just a few Kgs, not so much to affect performance.
