...FWIW the Eagles are rated better on TireRack ...
In any case they're very close, and you probably can't go wrong w/ either tire.
Good luck.

Looks like the PS2s have better scores to me on TireRack - am I missing something?

Michelin.
Anything else is like buying generic.

The PS2s have a slight weight advantage. A 245/40 18" PS2 tire is 24 pounds while the same size Eagle F1 GS-D3 tire weighs 26 pounds. On a staggered set the rear tires show an even larger gap: PS2=25 lbs, F1=29 lbs.

Maybe I missed it, but you didn't say what size. That would have a bit of effect on my choice, as in the smaller sizes it's not quite as crucial. I just put some 20's on my car, and used the PS2, and am amazed. Yes, they were expensive. Yes, the UTQG is only 220. I don't care. They ride and drive fantastic for a really big setup like this. I can't think of any other reason NOT to buy the PS2, except for $$$$.

I'm probably going with 245/40 18's if I can ever get a straight answer as to what size rims will actually fit on a 530XI. I've heard 19's will work but the dealer says 18's are the limit. Still don't know if staggered will work either. The dealer thinks only non-staggered because of the XI. The car came with 225/50 17 continental contitouring and I've already found their limits at the 1225 mile mark. I figured I would wait an extra 25 for the break in period. Hopefully they will be decent winter tires. We do have some crazy weather in Connecticut like the last 13 days it rained so wet performance is a consideration but not the deciding factor. I don't push it hard in the rain so the dry performance is really critical.

He might be right. Some 4WD cars with centre differentials apparently don't like different sized tyres front and rear as the centre diff ends up working overtime. I think this was an issue on Subaru Imprezas but don't quote me on this. Of course you might be able to match the rolling circumferences exactly.

I am in a minority here - but having run with the goodyear f1's and the continental sport contact 2's on my car - I found the contis to be MILES better.
With hard acceleration my f1's used to spin up to 30 mph. Wheelspin with the conti's is much less and grip especially in wet weather is dramatically better.
Can't comment on the other tyres though.
