Yep, I got the DIY guides.
For the amount of money you'll save doing it yourself, you can use it to get a 2 1/4 ton Jack with stands. Our e60 is probably one of the easiest cars to change the oil. The filter is on top so it is easy to get at, most other cars I've had, the filters have always been a bich to get at. Getting the oil and filter from my dealer comes to about $50 total.

As an FYI, I buy my oil from a Garry type dealer. I get 10W-60. I pay around $10/Quart and I buy an entire case. I take it to my local mechanic and have him do the change. I give him $30 which includes the special filter my car takes and that's it. I would do something similar.

That is exactly what I do.

I just had mine changed recently at the dealer at about 5000 miles. The charge was $135.00 so it's not cheap.

You paid almost 2 times what the oil and filter cost if you bought it yourself. Dealerships are a huge rip off when it comes to Oil changes imo. If you're under warranty, who cares. But if you're not, go elsewhere and bring your own oil. my 2c.

C ... what synthetic oil do you buy? List price on "BMW Oil" is $6.25/qt?

Turns out I think the miles are reversed and that mileage is when I should get it changed by. Reason I thought it was overdue is it showed a red icon in idrive.
