Woohoo! I just finished doing the same too!

Overall, it came out pretty decent. As with yours, there are some imperfections.. I'd also say I'm about 80ish% satisfied. If I ever do it again, I'm gonna make sure I pick a day when it's not scorching hot outside. Though if there's ever a round two, I'm probably going to buy myself someone else's chrome trim, sand it down, paint it in gloss black, and mount that.

Quite a productive memorial day though, I must say. Now it's time for some delicious food.

It looks good. If you want to do it again, it would be faster to take the trims off before painting than all the masking you have to go through. Removing and installing the trim is actually easier and faster than you think? You can take the trim off in about 15 min. and that's being conservative.

I did my trunk lock this weekend. It came out great. It's a way better look on my dark blue car. I was going to do the grey strip in the front bumper, but I couldn't get it off and I didn't want to mask that much.

Snapped a photo of the black lock. I think I'm in the lead for the most insignificant mod ever.

you know i bought an extra can of the plastidip just incase. (I never even got through half the first can btw) and I was really considering doing the badges and trunk lock but I thought to myself I'd rather debadge and painting the lock black on a silver car my be over kill so I left it alone. however looks great on your car and you know the good thing about it, some might say well when you use your key it will peal up, but if you think who ever uses their key to open their trunk????. good job

I helped my gf's brother do the chrome trim on his Acura and what we did was a bit different. We actually left about a 1/4 inch excess border when taping the trim. When it was dry, we used an exacto knife and very lightly cut into the plastidip where we wanted it to peel off. This worked surprisingly well and left a perfect border. It's more work, but it worked well for us.
