Thanks NerWeezy!! Def good Ideas............About taking out the resonator, would the sound be too loud? I just to enhance the sound and still look like a Luxury Sports car, ya know. I think I might go with just changing out the muffler and if I still want it louder, will remove the resonator.
What about the Vac Line that Ktlocklear is talking about, is that gonna be an issue? What do you do with that line? Thanks again guys......

I'm considering Magnaflow as well. What is the difference between the 14862 and the 14816??

The vac line just opens the other side of the muffler at certain RPM. Below that point it's to create more bck pressure which some think helps torque and/or scavenging for fuel economy and emissions. Just unplug it, block the line and it's fine- no codes thrown and I've been in to the dealer for service with no comments/issues.
Sorry- wasn't clear in my note. If you are going to leave the stock muffler on, either weld the valve open or leave it alone... My advice above is only relevant if you are replacing the stock muffler... Before I did change I did lock the valve open but I don't notice any change at all on performance. I'd bet it's an emissions relevant item but who knows- the BMW dudes love to make it more complciated than it really needs to be.

Lots of great inputs fellas!! I really appreciate all your opinions. I think I will replace it with 14816 and maybe do the resonator at a later date.
To confirm, leave the valve open or close when I do the change? Thanks again.....
Ricracing, awesome diagram, helped me understand how that thang is hooked up.....thanks again

You should not plug the vaccum. Rather, tuck it away without restricting its flow. When the actuator operates, it just blows air (pressure) out. Quite harmless to leave it unplugged.

The butterfly valve is for more exhaust flow at higher rpm, usually above 2500 rpm. It does not necessarily increase sound (may be by 1 or 2 decibels) since the second muffler is quite insulated as the first one.
