I don't think higher revs are going to be a problem, because you are not changing any engine mapping parameters, only how sensitive the drive-by-wire is. So rev limiter, shifting etc. are not affected (except in as much as shifting will happen higher up if you move the accelerator "faster" from the ECU point of view).
Personally, on a 535d I need to have such a feather touch on the accelerator in most circumstances that I don't think it's worth it. I don't want wheels chirping all over the place. And if I need to mash it, I will mash it.

sounds like it might be a simple signal amplifier...
It is.
It is.
your 0-60 or standing quarter time will be just the same - its just allowing you to be more lazy with your right foot.
whats the point of that? Just save your money and move the pedal an extra inch!
cheers

Im not sure what your saying is correct. I had a 330 loaner for 2 weeks, and both my wife and I really prefered the throttle response on that car much more than the 550. If this corrects the slow throttle response, it might be worth it.

I'll pass with this "wonderproduct".
If I need faster respons from the engine I use the DS mode.

erm, never driven a Honda type R (powerband between 6-8K) or a RX7 (revs to 9k) - most jap cars ive driven rev to 7k, so id hardly say BMW was exceptional re revs.

sounds to me that all this might be is a simple signal amplifier.
for example, if the pedal gives a signal to the ecu of 0-5v for 100% pedal travel, then the box could amplify the first 20% of the pedal to produce 0-100%. This would give a hair trigger response to the throttle and the feeling you have a more sensitive engine - but all thats happened is that you had to move your right foot less.
Im an electronics engineer, and the basic parts to make this device would cost a very few dollars if thats all its doing. (wonder if he has patented it!)
I had something on an xj-s once that provided a sharper throttle response if it sensed a fast movment of the throttle - however that was to overcome the fact that the ecu had a very slow response anyway.
This thing (from the little bit i read) just sounds like a gimmic?
cheers

I wonder how safe a hair trigger throttle would be in traffic?

pinguhk, is it very easy to install?
where did you buy it from in HK? i will be over there next week =P
if it's truly plug and play and not too expensive, i may want to give it a try. do you know if anyone use this on a manual?
