then im amazed at how gulliable people are to part with money for such a thing!

your 0-60 or standing quarter time will be just the same - its just allowing you to be more lazy with your right foot.

whats the point of that? Just save your money and move the pedal an extra inch!

cheers

steve
0-60 will be faster I know I done it.
its not just pushing the foot down,
it telling the computer gogogo

however more lively it felt in throttle response, surely your 550 was still faster than the 330? If not, there must be something wrong with the 550...... is it an auto, and the 330 was a manual? An auto tends to make throttle response 'softer' - at least on the autos ive driven..

cheers
steve

Yes my 550 is much faster, but the throttle response is still better on the 3 series. It just feels better, right from the start, there is no lag time..This is on all E60s..

Its quite normal for people to think they have a performance increase when they dont - you want to feel its faster. Can you actually quantify how much faster it is - like with a stopwatch, or it just 'feels' faster?

I didnt see anything in the site for the product that said it made more power - just a faster response.......

did i miss it somewhere?

There is also a total lack of anything quantifiable on the site in terms of numbers, no mention of a particular 0-60 increase, accelleration improvement in terms of % - basically nothing. Even the testimonials section is blank. They are making intangeable claims such as 'faster response at low revs' - so you cant hold them to the fact the car isnt faster - it just 'feels' faster.

If anyone can prove otherwise, id consider buying one - but this looks like snake oil to me....

cheers

If itis that esay to make then why is only 1 company that make them???
you should start makeing them and sell for $50us instend of $260 us and you be rich just like them.
Perhaps they have a patent on the idea - but a search on the company didnt show one. Perhaps other companies do, but how do you discover without a product name to look for?

There is a company that sells electronic turbos - its basically a fan that blows air into the intake. Its not engine or exhaust driven, its a little 100 watt or so blower. Its not going to produce anything like the boost of a real turbo - just about nothing really. But people still buy them.......

You would make money at $50 dollars too! But why would you? If people are prepared to pay $260, then you only need to undercut a little - like $199. If people are going to part with big money for a simple device, there is no point being a charity!

I could do a circuit for something like this in a couple hours, and get a prototype made up in a day or so. The problem is how do you test it? when ive got my 520d, then i could certainly use that as a test bed.... however, it doesnt mean that all the connectors on a 520d are the same as any other beemer 5 series engine. The 'development problem' is having access to the appropriate cars to be able to make it a drop in replacement - ie - plugs in, like the one you have mentioned.

Now, if buyers were happy to cut wires, and cable it in, that would be much easier. But then it would make it obvious you voided your warranty.

cheers

Hi Steve,
Sure it is 550i faster than 330 automatic to automatic. I used to drive my E60 530i and E46 330i with exactly the same engine M54(?) 225hp. Throttle response in E46 is much more responsive compared to 530i as well as my current 550i.
I think because E60 aims toward more matured age, BMW cut down the responsiveness on E60.
More responsive throttle is not adding anymore power. It just makes you feel that when you need power, it's there. Not waiting for some split of second and get some surge power.
This is similar to the case of diesel car that it makes you feel the car faster, but it's not, just because of it's higher torque which push you back to the seat.
As you mentioned because that this device might be just an amplifier. I might agree. I guess the only thing this thing do is reduce rise time and change open throttle voltage at the TPS by a few percent. Not the whole lot.

This might be a good product, but the only downsize could be too sensitive of a throttle, increase gas and tire consumption just like in diesel engine situation.
