Could either the interior motion sensor or the park distance control (PDC) sensor be causing the K band alert on my radar? Could occasionally the sensor is not being turned off when the car is unlocked for entrance or the rear PDC are not being turned off when the car goes forward. The K band is in the 20 GHz range and some motion sensors use that range and the PDC operates in this range. I don?t think it is the satellite radio because I believe it operates in the 2 GHz range.
It's the Sat radio. It's kind of weird that mine is fairly hit or miss on when it's sending a signal out or not but i'm still getting it. There was a guy on the M5 board that didn't have the problem until he replaced his sharkfin.

FYI I tried a Escort 9500 and the same problem occurs

The interference was caused by the iDrive / Navigation display (screen).
If you point your radar detector towards the display (screen), your radar detector will indicate there is a suspicious radar source.

This may be the cause, I found with my new Garmain Nuvi 1490 when it was with in a foot of the V1 I would get a rear strength 2 bogey count... move the nav further away and the false signal when away.

Just something that I saw over the weekend.

My impression from the attached pdf indicates it is the navigation system causing the Ka band alert. Ka band is frequencies between 26.5 - 40 GHz. Satelliet radio operates in the range of 2.3GHz. As shown in the attached pdf radio navigation band is between 32.3 GHz to 33.4 GHz. Police radar operate between 33.4 - 36.0 GHz. I believe the antenna is suppose to receive the signal only and not transmit but somehow the Ka frequency is being resonated by the area around the antenna. Maybe someone can find a way to shield the frequency emission from the navigation antenna.
