Red neon is occasionally used for the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) on new cars. We know of these models: GM Trailblazer and Envoy, the Lincoln Mk VIII and the latest BMW 3-series convertible.

I have had the same problem for over a year. Sent it back to V1 to no avail. I have resorted to mounting it high, above mirror but on the driver side of mirror as to allow the rear eye to be blocked by the headliner where it meets the mirror / windshield. This works and I still pick up cops to the rear just not as far.

ChowBox,
I'm having the same problem with the rear radar but only at night. Did you discover what was causing the alert and how did you remedy the issue? Thanks

Do you all Have PDC?

Also did you get your V1 used, or turn on the Euro band sensitivity?

It activates the Ku band which is what the the Sat Radio works on I think , don't know if it is still in the correct frequency though... just a thought.

i've talked to Mike Valentine about the issue and there is no known fix. some of the cars get the signal problem so do not. there is no rhyme or reason to it. I tried to insulate my antenna by installing tin foil inside the headliner. didn't work. i heard so success of tinting the rear window with metal type tint. Seeing that i had just had my car completely tinted i didn't want to take the rear window tint off so i tried tinting the rear sensor of the V1 instead. it didn't solve the problem. I'm fairly sure the signal is leaking from the rear window vs. through the antenna access panel of the headliner. I have the V1 tucked up on the upper right side of the mirror. It seems like it doesn't pick up the signal as much there.

I am going to play with it more before the weather turns.

I should be getting my car back tomorrow and i'll be sure to check the Ku band idea as well.

Could either the interior motion sensor or the park distance control (PDC) sensor be causing the K band alert on my radar? Could occasionally the sensor is not being turned off when the car is unlocked for entrance or the rear PDC are not being turned off when the car goes forward. The K band is in the 20 GHz range and some motion sensors use that range and the PDC operates in this range. I don?t think it is the satellite radio because I believe it operates in the 2 GHz range.
