Agreed. Looks as though the headliner is coming down soon enough.
Anthracite headliner upgrade coming if Sean has to pull his headliner down?

I miss the anthracite headline from the 2003 540i Sport. The OEM headliner on my 550 (gray color) looks soooo much cheaper than my anthracite headliner did.

Well, a little update to the problem. I stopped over at chowbox's house and we swapped V1's.

Bad news...My V1 pics up the same signal when mounted in Sean's car. We figured it was his car since both radar detectors pick up the same signal in his car. I was backing out of his driveway to leave when I noticed there was signal on the V1 in my RR. When chowbox's car wakes up, car not even running, it emits a weak Ka signal. When the car goes back to sleep, signal is gone. Crazy...I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Here's a pic of the Ka signal coming from his 07 550. Check the arrow pointing to his E60.
why nobody believe's me what am i; unknown? if you havent tinted your car, tint it with llumar metallic, you will lose that faint ka signal along with am reception but who cares, the car will look better with tints!

It's kind of hard to be noticed when you are unknown to the membership.

UPDATE: chowbox moved his V1 just to the right of the rear view mirror and TAH DAH...seems to be working with out any phantom signal. I think we will still try to shield the Satellite radio antenna in the near future.

Sean was on the phone with Mike Valentine for a half hour yesterday and believe it or not he said they have found tinfoil works very well as a shield. Mike knows his shit so that's what we're going to try. We're going to tape it to the headliner and try that to see if it works before we drop the headliner.

Does either car have active cruise control? Once in a while, my V1 does this exact same thing and I just assumed it was something strange with ACC -- never thought about the satellite radio and figured that I needed a software update or something but never got around to doing anything since it happens like one out of every ten times I use it...

Here's a link to a post where I talked about this about a month ago:

there is no way a satellite signal can be mistaken for ka band radar. that is outrageous.
