I've been thinking about where to discretely mount an Amp in my trunk also. Have you considered hiding it over your rear driver-side wheel-well? Here's what another member did, he built a platform above the wheel-well, and used brackets to hold the Amp in place. Then swapped out his wheel-well boot trim for one used in cars with the DVD changer (BMW part # 51477122193) plus he added the oddment tray (BMW part #51477074479). This one sits higher and covers the Amp completely.

Check out some pics here. Scroll down to the #12th post.

yea i already have an amo there to drive the woofers under my seats, so that option is off the list, i want to mount it on the roof of the trunk, I've seen people do it, but i just dont know how to on our cars. Im sure theres a way, maybe some kinda bracket that glues on and then you can mount the amp onto that? Just need some direction, i will probably hit up home depot to see whats available.

Usually amps don't like to be installed upside down because of how they are thought to be cooled. The cover works as a radiator and it is often profiled to get some more surface for heat to dissipate. If the amp is upside down the dissipated heat will stay over the amp instead of moving away from it. I'm sure there are exceptions in amps too.

if you have a digital amp, like an alpine PDX you can mount it updisde down as they are so effecient that they don't get hot. If you have a conventional amp, the heat sinks won't much like being upsidedown.

self tapping screws aren't a good options as they may come through the rear deck. I'm not really sure of the claerance though, so it might work? If that won't work, you can tack weld some custom brackets in place, or take the rear deck off from inside the car, and use through-bolts with custom brackets.

If you have sufficient surface area, 3M Dual Lock may be another option. This is among the best adhesive/lock type material used in the auto industry today. Here in Canada one of the applications is to hold panels in place on public transit buses. Tensile strength is awesome. Depending on the weight of the Amp, the amount of usable surface area for this material is important.

Just a thought....
