Maybe I'm on the wrong forum.

ESS Supercharger:

Horsepower: 340 DIN (Stock 225SAE/231DIN)
If he likes his car why to change it. The 3.0l is a very good engine and very reliable even when supercharged. ESS has more kit's for your engine. It can go up to 400hp. Just check the SC kits for the Z4 or E46 with the same engine, but the best way to know it all is send them a email. Your are in the right route going SC with ESS.

On your first post you are assuming than the lighter 530i with 340hp and 420nm, will be slower than a stock 545i with 306hp and 390nm
So why are you "wasting" money???

The latest ESS TS3 kit for the M54 engine:
Horsepower at 15PSI: 470 DIN (Stock 225SAE/231DIN)
Torque at 15PSI: 540NM (Stock 300)
0 - 60: 4.2 sec

I bet that most will say now: your 530i + $15k = E60 M5

Floor mats
yes floor mats are really heavy and you should get rid of them. You will notice instant power.
easily keeping up with big boys 545i, m5(s) etc.

Well, I do love my 530i, however, I feel there should be some things I can do to increase my engine performance. I want to start small, and work my way up. Do you guys have any advice on where to begin on this long journey?
I also have a 2004 530 and here's what you can realistically do. Have your ECU flashed for aggressive 91 octane, (if you live in California) or aggressive 93 octane if 93 is available in your state. Had mine flashed a year ago, switched to a K&N filter like you and I mixed 91 and 101 octane. The car is eager almost jumpy, gearshifts happen a couple hundred rpms higher and the car in general pulls EAGERLY. Had it done locally and it's not expensive. For more information, drop me an email.

I would remove the seats in addition to the floor mats. BMW seats are way heavy. Also remove the air conditioning as well. I've also read here on these very boards, that if you drive with the hood slightly ajar, you gain some serious power.

All the best

hey richard.. fancy meeting u here.i'm just guessing it's u from the spec that u mentioned..not many e60 530s out there with ur spec.u probably have more than the 340bhp advertised by AJ,plus with the final drive ratio that u have..only the steptronic is keeping u from going further, now maybe we should get AJ to do a Steptronic software upgrade.

bro,ur car is plenty fast man..don't be so modest la.
