Magnaflow exhaust question
I recently had fitted a custom maganaflow exhaust on my 530d. The guy said that the best place to fit the backbox would be further in the middle of the car and to have the pipes come out of that and around the spare wheel compartment. The tips were then welded onto those pipes. A fried of mine told me i might not be getting as much back pressure from the exhaust if the tips are further away from the backbox, is this true? since having the exhaust fitted it already feels lighter and im feeling a lot more power off the lights.

You need to post this question in the "Parts, Accessories and Mods" section... I'm curious about this too. This would be the set up I run if I decide to do quads but I'm worried about low-end power loss... can anyone chime in and let us know if any losses at all would be incurred by doing this set-up (muffler in the middle and pipes going out from there)?

i believe that you dont even gain ANY type of h.p now from magnaflow.. i believe also there was a power loss.. there was a big thread on it.. someone will find it and post it..

Unfortunately most members that have Dyno'd there cars before and after installing any custom exhaust that was not specifically tuned for the E60, have experienced a loss in power, including Magnaflow. I cannot attest to this being the case with a Diesel as the 335d was just released in the US and cannot get diesel E60's . I can however tell you that every petrol E60 that has been dyno'd with a Magnaflow exhaust has experienced a loss in power.
Most petrol owners also claimed to have noticed a gain in power with the Magnaflow when in fact they had lost power on the Dyno.
In the end if you are happy with the exhaust that's what's important.
