My dealer said that he has just gotten the new CIP update. So he should install it on his computer and right after Xmas holiday he will upgrade my car's CIP. Of course he will try to do that without switching the cluster. I will keep you informed if it is workable.
Grazie Marco - this is what we would like to know !

version 28 ?

What? Just updated mine to version 27.x (3 weeks ago dealer said it was the latest version...) and now there's a new one?

Definitely, the 27.x hangs around at least 3-4 months.

I have the right one : "dear man, I have to get the final remap and the CIP overwrite the map..."

Sure, very easy. They plugged the car to the computer used for the CIP programming. On the computer monitor, right side, it appears the list of car CIP. Scroll down and find Combi. Than they should start the initializing procedure for the cluster codification. (it takes about 3 minutes to do that) Once having initialized and recognised that the cluster is suitable for the car on the monitor appears the icon codify. Now switch the two clusters and press enter. The computer will now codify the new cluster "thinking" that he does it on the old one. After abt. other 3 minutes everything is done.
Easy, isn't it?

don't forget to ask your dealer if you have to re-install your old cluster for eventual software updates/coding in the future.
This is key if we are to conclude this is a permanent coding or not.

thanks,
