Default Retrofit Success!

Just wanna share my retrofit experience in case somebody is also looking to do roughly the same thing.

I looked into getting the factory m sport steering wheel with the heated and lane departure functions. The steering wheel itself is 600+ and it doesn't have the tri color stitching that I wanted.

After consideration, I decided to buy a refurbished non-heated / no lane departure m sport steering wheel from ebay.

The seller I bought from specializes in crafting high quality m steering wheels, as well as a slew of other maker's wheels.

The one I picked has the flat top and bottom, tri color stitching, thumb rest, and the leather with holes punched to make it breathable.

Anyway, removal and install took me a little over an hour.

It's looking great and feels very smooth and special!

I am without the steering wheel heater and lane departure warning. But I never used them to begin with, so i'm not missing them now.

I kept the original wheel and airbag. Maybe I'll send it to the seller and have him retrofit it with the m sport leather, m stitching, and the thumb rests!

E60 M5 Wheel

E60 M5 Wheel

Current: Sport wheel

I'm possibly looking to swap my current Sport wheel (heated, no lane departure) on my E61 to a recently acquired E60 M5 wheel.

I need some help understanding whether:
1) If I can add/retain the heating functionality to the M5 wheel, or if I would lose that in the swap.
2) What parts/wiring I would need to add the paddle shift functionality on my E61.

The M5 wheel seems to be pretty much bare, and is missing the small "M" logo. See attached photos.
