A DIY for springs would be great. I have the BMW TIS CD-ROM, but it is all done using specialized tools at the dealers, so not really of value for doing it at home.
Hamann5 -- Why would a hoist help so much? I did the springs on my E46 and they weren't bad at all -- wondering if this one is more involved.

Actully for the E46 we had a big ice storm and no power for 5 days. I was having the steering rack retrofit done by the dealer (so a free allignment!) and was so ready for the mods that I wasn't about to reschedule. Did new springs, shocks/struts, and sway bars outside to have some light, all with hand tools in 25 degree F weather!

Hey JPJ, maybe I could talk you into sending me a couple breakdowns of the suspension. I'll do a write up for you guys. Sounds like not many people around here do their own work, but if you guys think you will use it, then I will do it. I probably won't get around to lowering the car until the new year, and even then it is iffy just because I think I'll be flying back east for a week and then it's my birthday and then I have to go to court for something...haha, January will be busy for me.

And did this seriously need to be moved from E60 discussion? It is directly related to the E60 and I find it kind kind of funny that there is a "OEM" section of this site. oh well, whatever. anyway, JPJ if you could it would be helpful.
