Default Logic 7 Speaker questions

Hey guys I found someone selling logic 7 speakers (13 speakers) for $300.

Is this a deal I should jump on? I have HiFi speakers, so would I need an L7 amp + coding to get everything functioning or will I be good to go once I plug in the speakers?

Thank you in advance.

$300 sounds good

amp plus coding - the idrive will need to to know you have L7 for the EQ to come up.

Only thing you may want to consider are alternative aftermarket systems for the same price you'll end up paying (say $500?)

I read somewhere a person who'd fitted CIC which doesn't have an inbuilt amp, so he added one in line and he couldn't believe he was driving the same stock speakers, the sound quality improved massively so simply adding an aftermarket amp may do wonders...

wouldn't you need the door panels also? or are they all the same on hi/fi and L7?

You need rear door panels from a L7 car to fit the extra set of 4" midrange speakers.
You will need to code the car from option 676 to 677.
You will need the L7 amplifier.
You will need to connect the L7 amp to the MOST Bus.
You will need the wiring harness from a L7 car. Remember that all your mids and highs run off your main CCC unit in the dash now and the L7 amp (installed in the rear) will be running all speakers - you will need to do some re-wiring.
IMO, retrofitting a Hi-Fi E60 to L7 is not worth it. It is far easier to make the switch on the E90 cars with Hi-Fi. You could try replacing your Hi-Fi speakers with the L7 speakers in your available locations - obviously you can't put the center speaker or rear door speakers in as you have no way to power them. It may sound decent. It may sound terrible. The L7 amp has equalization built in specifically for the L7 drivers. Your Hi-Fi system does not.

Your best bang for the buck on an E60 car with Hi-Fi is:
Technic Full Hi-Fi harness: $125.00 Run an extra speaker wire with it for adding in the center speaker.
JBL MS-8: Whatever you can find one for.
Additional BMW Hi-Fi 4" mid-range for the center channel: Used on eBay ~$25.00
Do a small 2-channel amp (50 - 75 watts per channel) for the under seat woofers if you want a bit more bass.
