hmmm...elite's runs $70 (adaptor and oem incl.), bruce's (cables from bruce, lights from gary) set-up runs about $90....
guess it's up to the buyer...
Thanx for the info...

Its actually closer than that. The USD to GBP conversion is now about 1.7 USD = 1 GBP. So my set-up runs about $76.75 (with lights from Gary)
I'm not saying you should get these from me because I pay rip off Britian prices and that often makes a lot of my products too expensive. So if you have a cheaper alternative use it.

Is there any advantage to this method of LED license plate upgrade?
I bought a pair of LED's with resistors and heatsinks to slot into the factory housings. They dont cause errors, but they do flicker when the ignition is turned on (but then again so do my LED indicators). Considering this solution was only $15 delivered, I don't mind Seems better than a $120 option of E90 LEDs + LED converter cables. Unless I am missing something here?
Heres the ones I bought:
I'll snap off some pics of them installed shortly. They aren't as good as the full LED housing replacements, but for the $15 I can't complain.

No, this is not too bright at all, this is OEM bright. Exactly how BMW intended it to be.

I snapped off some pics of the drop in LED license plate lights tonight and noticed the uniformity of them is pretty ordinary.
I would expect using factory LED housings or drop in led housing replacements would not have this trouble.
It could be also attributable to the personalised plates in this state being around 1/2 an inch thick, which would obstruct the lights somewhat.

if you really want to make your own set of cable relays to fit OEM e9x led plate lights to your e60, here's a great DIY by member BenAnd
