Those advertised ratings (25w) are theoretical limits of the LEDs not their actual power consumption. Pushing 25w to LEDs would yield an output similar to your HID headlights.

Hey, these lights are T16, so you don't think they'll work for backup lights? They say they're 921 replacements, so it should be fine.

And they're a legit brand, so I figured the 200 lumens they quote is valid.

I just am worried that they might throw a code still?

So I got around to installing some LED bulbs I bought for the inside cargo area and the light that on the tailgate. I'm very impressed with the output of the lights inside the cargo area especially, and even the festoon bulb in the tailgate was an improvement. The trunk lights already are built into the light housing and it's plug and play.

Here are some before / after pics, and the site I bought them from:

HPX 212 High Output 8 LED Festoon Bulb Part # 42HO8

The festoon bulb is an error free bulb / CANbus compatible one, and so far, after a few days of driving, haven't had any bulb out warnings. But I'm guessing interior bulbs don't get checked by the system. No heatsink on that bulb. I've seen similar ones on Amazon, where you get two for the same price, so might be worth a shot. Since I was getting the trunk lights already from them, I just bought the festoon one too.

I'm more than happy with the light inside the trunk, and it would be nice to have more light on the ground with the hatch open like Evan's setup, but I think I'll skip adding the bullet style lights for now, out of laziness of not tackling another project right now. These are simple iPhone pics, so I realize the white balance is probably off, but they should still be good for comparison of before / after I hope. The last two are before / after pics showing the festoon bulb impact.

So on top of the bulb I had bought for the hatch (that goes in here):

I bought a $2 Ebay special one that's 18 5630 type LED's to see how it would work (it fits perfectly against the clear portion of the light cover), and it's WAY brighter! Its festoon adapter was a bit loose, so I just soldered the wires to the contacts. I've left that one in now.
