ipod lead in glove box - how to get it to work

i've plugged in a 3rd gen ipod nano

the nano comes up with a bmw logo and says ready disconnect with the last music scrolling at the bottom, but i can't figure out in the iDrive menu how to get it to work?

You have to switch the stereo display over to "CD". You use CD1, CD2, CD3, etc to sort by playlists, artists, songs, etc.

The reason it is this way is the iPod adapter is hooked up to where the CD changer normally is installed.

i'll try that

i think the spec list says 6 disc changer, being a used car, could it be possible the cd changer was taken out instead of the retro fit ipod lead in the glovebox as not noticed the cd changer magazine

Yep. I just got a CPO 2008 535i and that's my case also. The previous owner retrofitted it.

Got it to work. So is that metal casing instead of the cd magazine, as i think I'm suppose to have a 6 cd changer?
So you can't have this iPod lead and 6 cd changer working at same time?
