How to remove stock exhaust TIP?

member Anzafin has a comprehensive DIY on this, but you don't really need to be very scientific - take a heavy'ish hammer and a block of wood and go to work. Mine came off after about 10-12 taps each (I was afraid to hit them hard). But its not like you're likely to damage the tips, as long as you have the block of wood.
Okay, I'm the newest member to this "tips" club. No pics yet, as they are still drying in the spray booth.
I started by just taking them off to try and get a good cleaning on the chrome, then I realized that the chrome was actually pitted around the rim and some of the chrome was actually gone!
To hell with this, I exclaimed, and now I have low gloss black tips, after cleaning and roughing them up a bit.

BTW, I think they make a creme for dirty tips. Should clear up in a week to ten days.

i just got word they powdercoated my tips gloss black rather then flat black, anyone have pics of this? this could be a disaster! haha any opinions ? my "530i" on the trunk is flat black but my m5 rims are gloss black...
