If re-directing the airflow to the intake box, the air doesnt know its a "rpi scoop" or "diy $2" scoop, point is, air is now being more effectivly redirected, hence improving performance than before. Claims of different size scoops etc is BS in my opinon, as more air, the better is usually the concept. Hence what forced induction theoratically is, MORE AIR. There is no way it makes logical sense an diy scoop if whatever size etc can hinder performance, yes it may not be AS effective because of the certain angles and such, BUT that alone should decrease performance what so ever as I have been reading in a few threads. DYNO graphs etc done by certain companies... well, should say a lot since those companies are selling that specific product and dont want to say, oh lose business? Just for kicks and curiosity, a good friend just had a mustang dyno installed. I am going to run a few tests with and without the DIY scoop and see what happens.
will this thread be another thread i can eat popcorn while reading? What's the big deal? $100 RPI scoops and $2 DIY scoops? If you're a car enthusiast, you like to make things yourself. Has anyone made their own subwoofer box instead of buying one? You guys know the answer.

i dunno about that. I have never seen a patent number
RPI or $2 scoops, i chose RPI since it's proven. Pretty sure a $2 scoop can duplicate the results if made correctly.

I agree, an enthusiast will make a lot of stuff or install themselves which is awesome. How many guys did their own custom work and messed it up royally too? I know plenty and I know plenty of bad shops as well.
I know some guys that cant dynomat their cars worth shit either.

Now some of the DIYers are saying that RPI is scamming people.

yeah sure! just 2-4 rwhp gains with the RPI scoops... $99 vs $2..... I take $2 anyday. DIY is fun.
I would rather purchase....... Not enough time in the day for projects like that. I'll leave it to those who do it for a living....

SCOOPS + BNC FILTER + EXHAUST = 10-15 whp.... so it states Exhaust is 11 whp do the math.
