Used to have an e30 325 with an s14 engine swap... My dad has an e60 m5, had an e46 and e36 m3... I told you I am a good rpi customer because i trust them as tuners as I can back them up due to seeing what they do and how much effort is put in for minimal cost unllike other companies... As a strong supporter I back up what I believe is right because If RPI wasnt around I would not trust ANYONE with my car really and probably waste more money...

Until you prove you're a patent lawyer - I'd STFU if I were you.

Shouldnt you be on mini and whatever the other junk is forums
Yeah, cause i dont wanna hang around the "posers with 550's" and knockoff m6's forum... This forum is so useless compared to rennlist, MFest, M5forum and even North american motoring... Have fun going to the flower shop, hopefully your car can grow plants much faster...

I don't have an aFe intake. I removed it the same day I put it in. Thank you for reminding me to update my SIG.

You're hot air is about as beneficial to this forum as the aFe CAI is to an E60.

in my opinion, if the bends in the scoop are not correct you could be actually hindering airflow to your airbox, hence you pay for all the R&D that RPI does
Absolutely true!
The correct bends (or angles) in the scoop & piping are needed to achieve a "laminar" air flow; this will result in the best possible flow of air into the filter box, if flow is not laminar it is turbulent; resulting in a loss of air speed due to "tumbling" (more friction is also encountered due to this state which slows the air down even more) around in the scoop and piping rather than going through the piping in the straightest line possible.
One way of solving this is through the use of a larger diameter pipe. Most standard intake pipes are large in diameter, have very soft curves and as straight of pipe runs as possible to prevent turbulence fom happening. If you just stick a sharp cornered scoop in behind the grille you have just created a right angle going to your filter box; fluids do not like this; not good! Trust me, there is alot of R&D that goes into airflow techniques and the way the fluid behaves......Sorry to get so technical; just trying to shed some light on the subject.

Mchammer, would you eat your words if that DIY scoop by accident gains more HP than the $99 one? I can see you running to home depot and buy those mud pans yourself already, who knows if you are not doing it secretly. If it doesn't work, throw it in the trash, It's $2. I don't own E60 anymore, I just visit the site once in a while to see how others mod their rides, just for the fun of it. Stating your real name isn't the smart thing to do online. It's permanent.
