Hi Guys,
I have the car at the shop retrofitting the M5 stock big brakes To my 2004 530i, the brakes are installed, we just have a little problem.
Now that the brakes are installed, seems like the stock 530i brake pump is not providing enough pressure for the much bigger M5 calipers, the car brakes very softly and I have to take the pedal to the metal to slowly and painfully stop my car, I can't use my car on the road because of this .
Do you think the problem is the stock brake pump?... Or maybe could the car's cpu be reflashed to brake harder?, or should I buy the whole M5 stock brake pump and other parts??... Do u think the M5 pump would fit my 530i?.
I would like to hear from previous retrofitters if possible.
I just find it weird since many people have done this conversion and I have not seen any problems like mine on the forums... Please help me out guys, I really trust your knowledge.
Many thanks,
Kelvin.

I haven't actually done this conversion, but brakes are brakes. Let's make sure that you've covered the basics: Did the shop properly bleed the brake system? Were the anti-squeel clips installed correctly? It sounds like you have air in the lines. I've never read about anyone changing the brake booster out with this conversion, either.

unless the master cylinder is different on the 530 than the 545, the shop did something wrong. I just swapped out the calipers and rotors and my car stops like a champ. Sounds like they didn't bleed it well enough.

Thanks buddy, I pm'ed both of them, I will post here what they tell me.
I am actually feeling better, I think the shop messed up the installation...
But, the whole "bleeding" of the can be re-done, right?, in case it wasn't done correctly...
Noob request: can someone please describe what is the process of "bleeding the brakes", what is supposed to be done?

Yeah I have em too sounds like all the air isnt out. There is a DIY in the DIY section, its really easy shouldnt take you and a buddy more than hour to bleed brakes. I bled mine 3 times.
When brake lines are open bleeding brakes is a must. If the shop mounted them and said they're done then it sounds like theres air in the lines.

I'm with the majority's suggestion here - air in the system. My 545i is fine with the M5 brake components (rotors, calipers, and pads), and the 545i and 530i share the same master cylinder and power brake unit (per RealOEM.com).
