I do not think you can actually fight for tint tickets. Just pay for them as it is the extra cost for you to take when you decided to tint the windows. I tinted the windows since my first car(always 35% all around, then 50% all around for my 545i) and got many tint tickets which should be $40 or $50. I did not bother and just paid for the fine.
its 90 per ticket (i got 2 tix, 1 for front, 1 for back) 180 total
. 50 bucks i dont care about. i blow that on coffee every week. 180 is a bit steep to pay every few months, just not worth it 
. i could be modding my ride instead

BTW where the hell do you guys find NY cops that give tint tickets? I've had 20% on all my cars for the past 12 years and I've never been questioned about it during a traffic stop and I get pulled over a shit ton

Well what do you expect-why have that dark of tint in the first place? I dont know about nyc but the legal limit in arizona was more than plenty-if they do not allow any tint whatsover than clearly yours is obviously overtinted-you could have just put a bit of tint on, been happy and not get tickets.
