OK, I'll be a libral for a second and say, "You're harming the environment with those loose hydrocarbons." OK, I'm done being a liberal.

Lomag, I second making this a sticky, but can we get a someone to dyno it and see the actual gains instead of the "feel." Or maybe we can setup a placebo and find out if dyno is not available.
what is next, drilling holes in your airbox to the old saying of more air volume

You'd be surprised what people do (or, actually, not! ). Of course, drilling holes in the air box would cause the intake air to increase in temperature, which is not a good thing (a hot air intake... ) !

Here's a test for skeptics:
1) stick cotton balls up your nose
2) run 5k
3) remove cotton balls
4) run another 5k

Notice any difference? Class dismissed.

I did the same thing. I stumbled to this web site last night and registered. i think this is my 4 post since last night. it's been a struggle for me to find a website for my 530i and noticed t members are mostly non US resident.

on with the mod. did this first thing in the morning and went out to get some medicine for my son. but before i did i went for a drive and made sure that the engine is at normal temperature before gunning the heck out of it. while waiting for it to reach normal temp i'm just driving in a spirited manner and notice a big difference in throttle response. the jerk/choke that i get was gone. before the mod i've stalled the car a few times and kept on jerking at take off. now, i've been driving a manual since day 1 i started driving and am a motorcycle rider(honda cbr 929rr). definitely i know how to mix the clutch and the throttle. i've also previously owned a 330i zhp before my 530i.

powerwise, not sure if there are gains. throttle response, definitely a thumbs up. car feels more driveable.

Of course there is going to be a gain .... nice to see Active Autowerke provide some proof (albeit for an M5).

These are not huge gains ... but they are FREE ... and they are surprisingly noticeable. I bet the engine management software was never tweaked to account for these additional filters, and now the engine runs as it should.

this one is a no brainer. you don't even have to do anything, just stick the cotton balls up your nose and breath normal for about 10 minutes and you'll start feeling nausea. then take them off and you'll notice a big difference, you can breath better. this is really funny and i still am laughing so hard till now. but i guarantee you with those cotton balls up your nose you get less booger. that's what i call good filtration. rofl!

Chi - noticed that you hardwired your Escort - would you explain the procedure. Would like to do the same on my 550i. Thanks

Thanks - I dunno - I just click and the computers figure it out. They don't make mistakes - do they?

Yeah, lots of non-US, but there seems to be quite a few calinerds here too.
