Hi All,

Just wanted to share some useful info with you guys. I recently retrofited M5 Power fold mirrors on my stock E60. My car did not have this option so the mirrors did not fold once I fitted them.

The car actually requires re-coding to enable the power fold option. Normally BMW don't like taking on such jobs. However, I found a reliable third party guy who can re-encode your cars for any option (providing you have the Hardware installed). He has the BMW kit that allows him to do this and has very reasonable rates.

He managed to enable the power fold on my car. He even coded my keys so that my mirrors auto fold when I lock the car and auto-unfold when I unlock it

I'm gonna use him to enable the TV option, once Dension release the AVR unit. This will allow me to watch TV on my IDrive screen.

Anyway, If anyone requires any coding/warning light resets/diagnostics then give him a call.

Contact Pav (Globe International Autos) on 0207 790 1060. Mention my name Asif and the forum and he'll sort you out.

Feel free to PM me if you need anymore details.

Cost for the Folding feature?

OK just spoke to Pav who seems like a nice guys. He charges ?96 + VAT per hour and all programming work is capped at 3 hours. You get the benefit if he finishes the work in less than 3 hours but doesn't charge you any more if it takes longer. He doesn't charge per feature enabled so best if you have a long list of things that you want added in.

This varies from car to car. Apparently, he told me several control units needed encoding to enable the option. The more options your car has then the more control units need recoding. He mentioned the job is alot easier post 09/05 cars as the ecu's are networked. He charges around ?90 per hour, so depends on how long it will take him. Best to give him a call and find out.

WOW..thats expensive..

have you tried

mark/phil at cartronics in byfleet near weybridge surrey (only charges by the hour)
or
jason at B&W chiptune in west houndslow
i know there both cheaper, and both have full autologic decoding software

Pav would work out better if like bruce says you have a load of coding to do......
