100% Correct The mufflers is the only one outside characteristic, but you must know about. Basically there are 2 more ...hard to see.
You can find many more if you look inside carefully...

This is my favorite M5 conversion. It is my friend's Anthony car, our forum member "4x4sc" He does not posting much, but he is reading everything

Hi Anthony!!

I am sorry but I really don't buy the whole "I did it because I like the way the M5 looks" excuse especially when they go so far as to put an M5 badge on it. It's done to try and impress people. It's no different from the fake Rolex thing. The only difference is that rather then spending $50 to buy a fake $20,000 watch, he spent much closer to $60,000, if not more, to make a fake $90,000 car. I wonder what he says when people ask him about it. Must be uncomfortable to have to lie about what kind of car you own. What about when he takes it in for service?? Does he tell his SA that there is a problem with his fake M5. Sorry but I think the whole thing is juvenile and silly.

Thanks........I like it, but in reality it doesn't look much different than a stock M-Sport model would look. The most obvious difference would be the quads/custom diffuser, and a couple of minor things.

I agree...........when 99% of the exterior is an M5 clone AND the ///M5 badge is added then that excuse isn't valid anymore.

Well I personally have to agree that it's slightly disturbing if people decides to clone their 5s to match exactly like the M5 and Jeff has made a few good arguments that its like a wannabe M5 owner. I would suggest is that you go for your 'own' look that might be similar to the M5.

I have the 08 550i modded with M-Tech + Hamann body kit + Quad exhaust and when I go fill up my gas at any gas station (Shell), occasionally there would be someone who comes up to me and ask 'is that an M5?' I'd answer no proudly, then they realize that they're after market parts cause they ended up asking what mods did you do to it, where'd u get it, where'd u get it worked on, etc2... . Still, the people who comes up to me would compliment my car and its mods

So what I would suggest, best, is that you get more creative with the M5 'look' you want to achieve. There are many ways to get the M5 look without cloning it 100% exactly like side grills to badges.

I know that some people here might take it offensive, especially the M5 owners, since they spent the extra money so that they can receive that 'M' status which makes them special than the rest. Hell, I don't have an M5 but my car is still an eye turner when my car pass by or when it's parking at the side of the road. My car + people's attention = a very big smile on my face So suck on that M5 owners! j/k

Well, is there any M wheels or M-tech kit on your car? I also have the ///M badge on my license plate frame and that's my proud emblem to show that my car is sportier because I have the Mtech bodykit and wheels on my car.

But as far as license plate frame goes, I don't think that one tiny thing would make you a fake poser. If it's an M5 Trunk badge, that's a whole different story...

The "///M" badge is not as big an issue because you could have ///M parts on your car or have an ///M Sport model..........however, an "///M5" badge on a car that's not an ///M5 is
