Yes its a fake. You can tell by the shifter. On the M5 smg it sits a little lower.

The brake pedal on the M5 is narrower (same as a manual), while Steptronics and regular SMG's have the wider brake pedal. The mufflers on this one look like they are an oval can muffler with a single outlet splitting into a dual tip (like a Y-pipe), while the M5 has two cans on each side with one tip on each can

Having said that, it would be hard to tell if you just saw it parked somewhere, unless you inspected it up close.

100% Correct The mufflers is the only one outside characteristic, but you must know about. Basically there are 2 more ...hard to see.
You can find many more if you look inside carefully...

This is my favorite M5 conversion. It is my friend's Anthony car, our forum member "4x4sc" He does not posting much, but he is reading everything

I'm stuck for a comment that is not offensive to the owner, only because of the badge, but to each his own.................... I'll bet he has severe "Performance Anxiety"

Now I really appreciate your insight. I agree with you....As you suggested about looking at other members E60 with aggressive mods....Please point me to the thread or send me pictures as I requested in my initial thread. I can see by some of the responders that they have mods...It appears that everyone has done some kind of bumper or exhaust mods. I would appreciate it if someone sends or directs me to E60 with mods link...
The "Gallery" section of this site is a good place to look. Also, here are two links of some past SoCal and NorCal meets with many modded E60's. Make sure to go through the entire threads as the pictures are spread out through most of the pages.

Here are a couple of pictures of my car (note that the quad rear diffuser was a work in progress in these pictures). I should have the final (painted) one in the next week or so. Also, my car isn't as heavily modded and doesn't look as aggressive as some others, so be sure to look through the above links and the gallery:

Hi Anthony!!
Nick, your friend's car is one of the best M5 conversions that I've seen, even though I don't like cloning the look of an M5....it is still well done.................but more importantly...who's your "new friend" in your new Avatar???
