I don't see M5 conversion as a bad thing. If it is his daily ride and he likes the styling. I bet he could afford to buy M5. You should not care that much about other people.

I was sitting next to a woman driving a fake M5 in Manhattan about a year ago. Our windows were both down and I asked her if she thought she was fooling anyone. She turned her head in a huff and drove off. Pretty sad really.
Let him be. He likes it for himself not for you.

There are actually a few members here who have done the conversion or have most of the ///M parts on their E60. For one my530i has ///M5 front bumper, used to have quad rears and was looking for ///M5 fenders. He also has ///M steering wheel and ///M SMG shift knob, 166s, ///M trunk spoiler and ///M trunk finisher.
I think the ///M parts are fine as long as you leave out the ///M5 badge.

I'm guessing here that JeffNNJ saw a M5 badge on the trunk.

I don't know anyone yet, but I would do it if that is what you want. But I do agree, don't put the M badge on
Uncalled for bro.
Uncalled for bro.
I recently saw an 03 E39 540i, actually twice in 3 days after work that had the actual full ///M5 badge on the rear. I would've called his ass out if given the chance, just to see what he says.

..........Manufactors make those kits for a reason...so...Why do you have AC Schnitzer Rear Spoiler on your 550i? It didn't come with that setup.
I got the M-Tech Aero kit for my car (which includes the same side skirts as the M5, similar front bumper...but not the same, and completely different rear bumper). I also got the M5 trunk spoiler and finisher, but that's about as far as I was willing to take it on the exterior mods since I wanted it to look different from an M5, and I also didn't want it to appear as if I was trying to copy every single aspect of the M5. When I changed my wheels one of the main reasons for not getting the M5 (166) wheels was so that it wasn't another step towards being an M5 clone. The same with the rear bumper when I got quad exhausts. It would have been cheaper to get the M5 bumper instead of a Hamann quad diffuser for example, or the same price as the custom diffuser that I got, but I did not want it to look like an M5 clone. Also, one of the most important things for me was not only avoiding putting either an "///M" or "///M5" badge on, but also retaining the"545i" badge so that it's obvious what model the car is.
I don't feel the same about aftermarket tuner parts though. I think you can have one or two ACS, Hamann, Hartge, etc. parts on the car, or their complete kit if you want....as long as there is no model designation indicating an engine/performance option that are not on the car (e.g. Alpina B5 S, Hamann HM 5.2, etc.)
So, just do whatever you feel is right for you, but just look around the board first, and if you still want to go with the complete M5 look then go for it. Again, BMW does not make "M5 Body kits", but there are online retailers and tuner shops that buy the individual M5 parts and sell it as a "kit".
