well done for your swap, but the title is a little misleading.
the seats you had might have been "standard" to your car, but they are not standard BMW level seats, as you had leather heat and electric, so this swap would have been very easy.
i say this as i have done it the hard way, i had standard level seats, that is cloth with no heating and no electrics except back/forward function (part electric).
the wiring loom in your car would have been the same according to the bmw electrical schematics.
i had to compleatly re wire the seats in my car and take feeds to the centre console for the heated buttons, both pre tensioners had to be coded as did the seating and safty modules.
it took 3 days solid to compleate the changeover, and cost over gbp ?1000 just in electrical work.
my car was a poverty spec car and the seats came from a newer M5, but now i have rear heated also.
good luck on dying the rears, i would not do it personally, i'd buy a set of black rear ones. they are dyed at sorce and to dye them "aftermarket" would mean de-treating them, and re treating them (very hard and costly) if you are a novice.
but well done, its nice to get your car the way you want it by hard work instead of a large wallet.

I asked in a prior posting if it was possible to switch from the standard heated seats to the 20-Way Multi-Function Comfort Heated Seats. Well, it is indeed possible. I just finished having the local dealer swap them for me.
I bought the Comfort Seats off of eBay. They were out of a salvaged 2005 545I. They were in perfect condition with the exception of a blown seatbelt pre-tensioner (they used one off of my old seats to replace it.)
Here are the numbers;
Used Comfort seats - $450
(Yes - $450 for the pair including shipping from Wisconsin to California!)
Labor - $729.88
(Yes ? Total install with clearing of codes; Thank you Bob Smith BMW & Service Writer Julia Moffa)
Total cost for the best seat swap ever - $1170.88.
Now, anyone want to buy a pair of beige heated standard seats?

I was told by my SA that it was a plug and play. There was a need to reset some codes, but that was it. One thing that helped me was I was going from memory seats to memory seats and heat to heat. I got them for a steal on eBay. Here is a link to their store; http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ2...3aMEFSXQ3aMESOI
