I was speaking with some guy from BMW in Singapore recently. He said that it is not possible to detect exactly what was done to the ECU, but they could tell that a remap was done.

It is very easy for them to detect when they get into your system. All they do is to check the number of software updates you have and if they find one extra, then thats it!!!

However, that being said, we have only one authorised dealer here in Singapore. Its easy for them to find out. You guys in the USA and Europe have got so many that it may take quite some investigating before BMW finds out. But then again, there's the database....

Jay,

Any chance at you doing a pre and post remapping dyno?

Either way, I'm really looking forward to your thoughts/feedback on the DMS job.

Thanks.

Two knackered fuel pumps???? Who did your tuning?

It was actually only one knackered pump - and one running out of fuel that the 2nd dealer thought was a knackered pump becuase dealer number one hadn't done the required calibration when fitting the first one - gauge showed 1/4 tank - but tank was empty!

My 535d is DMS tuned. When the car broke down the BMW tech who came out said "probably another fuel pump" - so it's clearly a relatively common issue, and nothing to do with the mapping in my opinion - it's been fine since it was replaced -5000 "enthusiastic" miles And if the mapping was the problem, we'd be hearing of higher levels of failures on mapped cars than not...

Mine is getting Done here in ILLINOIS tomorrow they have to remove the ECU and then they can complete the remapping. I will let you know they claim from 231hp to 260hp, I am hoping its a noticable difference. I will post results

Very nice!
Your car is a true sleeper in every sense of the term. Remapped and SC'ed.

I say you keep your car badged and have fun with the 545's and 550's.
