I'm assuming you would get this thing back tomorrow or (depending on how close they are to you) later in the day.

It's usually done in a couple hours!

Right, this was my understanding. Esentially, all they need is a laptop with the correct cables.
Yep that is all they need

They take your ecu out of your car , then download the original mapping into the laptop.
This is then emailed to head office who keep this on file .
They remap your original data to acheive the best outcome and email it back to the engineer who uploads this into your ecu and then whoosha what a difference

PS It took him around an hour from start to finish
exactly as you said ....
and it took just over an hour for him to complete!

Had my 645ci chipped by Wetterauer, they claimed 358hp-495Nm. I did not dyno my car so I'm not sure I can prove their claim. But my car sure feels more torquier and rev faster too. I think it is well worth the upgrade . I do not have the luxury of having someone doing the upgrade in my house, as I have to ship my DME unit all the way to Koblenz, Germany. I'm sure you will feel there is better performance with this upgrade.

Did you ask DMS if the the ECU upgrade is at risk of being overwrite during a CIP upgrade from the BMW service?
yes the claim it will not over ride and if it does they are 10 mins from my house so i can have them rewrite if needed. I have to say the car with the remap only is alot quicker. I have driven a 06 530i and my 04 and my friend who has the 06 and we both said mine pulled harder and felt more aggressive with the remap. I like the car alot better with the remap added and with the super charger it feels like a whole new car finally pull ahead of 545's now.

You own (or will own) an M5 and a 650 and you're complaining about 9 grand?

the gain is around 104hp to the rear tires although we have not dyno'd it yet we will and have plans to the charger bolts on and is easy to install i will show pics once i get my car back from the dealer, which BTW has not claimed any warranty issues with haveing the super charger...so far...

the car is super fast for a 04 530i which came stock with231hp. I think its around 331hp but it feels alot faster than that. With the remapping its more like 366 or so. I have a 545i loaner now and it feels quick but my modded 530i feels way more aggressive and responsive. I have raced 545i's and they are like what the hell is under the hood, and thats no 530i and I tell them yes it is but i have about 6000.00 worth of mods to get that juice. the super charger is alot if money but well worth it in my eyes.. It made the car a new driving expierence for me. My little rocket and the engine sound with the Super charger gives it a high performance sound with the ACS exhaust.
