My car went in for a CIP upgrade to 23.01 and as part of that BMW wiped out the DMS added ECU remap. BMW did not detect the remap so that was good. Anyway when the car came back I knew that the car was remapped differently. It was different than stock but not DMS too.
Called up Mike from DMS and he sent Neil around to have it redone. Just to be absolutely sure Neil downloaded my BMW added map and sent it back to DMS headquaters (now in Southhampton). Sure enough everything was new and so DMS had to create a new map for me and downloaded that to my car.
Any of you having your car remapped by DMS for the second time need to make an allowance for this extra time required for the job. DMS just want to play it safe so actually check what BMW have changed instead of simply wiping everything and starting again.
The car has come back to life again. An excellent experience with DMS again

Hi bruce

Did you get your CIP upgrade for free? if so what did you complain about on your 520d to get them to do it?

Thought I might take mine back as it is a bit lumpy some days at 1800RPM

Cheers

CIP was upgraded free as part of the SZL sensor recall work.

AHHH the hesitation at 1800rpm....

I've been living with this for some time now. Returned the car to report the problem but they did nothing as there were no error codes on the DME.

Problem is almost certainly down to the EGR code and apparantly, this is a recognised problem and a new CIP version & EGR module code will be available Jan 07 for the 2.0D DPF.

In the meantime - the lumpiness should not occur with external temperatures below 10deg C - little higher when damp (higher humidity).

The symptoms can also be aleviated a little by switching on the Aircon - this loads the engine and makes a big difference on really bad days!

Also, stay away from Tesco Diesel -BP Ultimate seems the best I've tried to date, but we don't have Shell Diesel Extra around here since Bunsfield went BANG.

What is your month of manufacture & mileage to date?

Good to hear about the service from DMS

Seem to be having the same problem too recently. I've already had one CIP upgrade (CIP21.x I think) earlier in the year, which did seem to cure the problem, although over the past couple of weeks the problem seems to have returned.

Thanks for the information, think I'll pay the dealer a visit in the new year and see if they are aware of this.

Sorry Bruce, didn't see that post.

I do think that there could be an issue with the cruise control, tbh I don't really use it, but it was only after using it recently that the hesitation problems returned again.
