Correct I used to be a regional sales manager there for 4 years Dont' hold it against me.

If you want to know anything specific about Dinan please send me a PM. I would be happy to explain any mis-beliefs or about their Pricing Concept (higher then most)

I left in 2003 because I wanted to actually be able to buy a BMW. Now involved in mortgage banking and Wall street securities.

Anyway I have programed many cars and the issue that your dealer was having is because he forgot to clear all fault codes with the GT1 before connecting the MIPP. Same thing happened to me when I was at Dinan two weeks ago. The tech tried the MIPP 1st, it did not take so he had to go clear my fault codes with the GT1.
Thanks. Spoke with Dinan technical support this morning. Acutally got the guy who worked with my tech on Friday and he remembered everything. He confirmed that the MIPP knows exactly what car it's dealing with and that there's no way the 545 Stage 3 for an automatic could have been downloaded into my 550 6 speed. I'll rest better now.

BTW, I assume there is some way that the tech doing the downloading can confirm that the software has properly been downloaded into the car? One other question, does the software get cleared if the battery dies?

How's mortgage banking these days given the sub-prime meltdown? I worked on Wall Street for 16 years, now doing business development in house. Better hours, but lower pay, but lower volatility.

Well mortgage banking is almost as much of an adreneline ruch as my 550 right now!
I have been around this business my whole life, my father was a VP with Mason McDuffie in the 70's, so I think that this is great to weed out a lot of bad seeds that got in the business when the market was easy.
We have yet to see the worst because since November 06 to March 07 only $10bln of Subprime ARMS have become adjustable. In Sept of this year alone $40 bln will reset in ONE MONTH and then you will see how bad the subprime companies made our market!!!

Agree - the worst is yet to come. But, that probably creates and opportunity b/c the market will over sell.

BTW, is there some type of confirmation the tech gets that the software has been properly installed? All I received was the dealer's invoice, which clearly has the wrong part number and description on it. I'm satisfied that things are ok, especially after speaking with Dinan this morning. But, I would hope there was some "proof" the software was actually installed correctly, even if it was a visible "download succeful" on the tech's screen.

When the software is done the screen will say "download complete" if you really, really want to be sure then go back in to the dealer and have the tech connect Dinans MIPP machine and there is a spot thats says "check for current Dinan Software" This will tell you what stage software was put in the car or it will say no software detected

Yeah, I was also told by my Dinan rep that they can show you if the software has been downloaded. I asked him after I saw that I didn't have the warning sticker near the OBDII port, thinking if there's a chance they forgot to do it...haha
