paul, just for a bit of information.

on page 28 of performance BMW (febuary)
it states that every car/engine and ecu settings are different, and ONLY a re-map (as opposed to a chip box) is safe and good.
it goes on to say that they are NOT generic, as i said, and automatic gearbox settings can be tailored when tuning (as i said)

oh, and my mate had his 530d tuned (engine mapped) on a rolling road with a lap top pluged into the OBD2 last monday, and its now balistic.

ner..ner ,,ne ner, ner.

Hi i'm a new member 1st post on the forum.

I have a 08 520d M-Sport, its a company car and I'm interested in a tuning device rather than a re-map. If i have issues with the car i can just remove the device, whereas a remap could possibly be detected (i know there has been a lot of debate about this but, i don?t want to run the risk as it could result in me loosing my job ).

Does anyone have any experiences of using one of these tuning devices with the 2.0l diesel 177bhp engine? If so which device was it and would you recommend it?

Westyfield - Did you end up buying one of the devices?
