Diesel Tuning...
Yes remapping can be done. No-one said it could not.
You have flashed a BMW EDC 16 yourself?
LIVE mapping can't. Live mapping means you adjust parameters in real time. Unless you live map the only other way is, make a file flash it to the car rolling road it, look for flat sports or bits where you want more power. Make a new file flash this to the car and start all over again.

paul im sorry mate but your talking out of your hat
fact...you can now map E60's through the OBD port...FACT
FACT you can map for specific gears (if its a manual auto, ie tiptronic)
i have had this done, why dont you call the guys at B & W and they will confirm this.
even autologic in conjunction with superchips can map now through the OBD port its been around for a year or so now.

infact paul, if you look on "evolve's" web site (luton)
they explain about there OBD port tuning for E60's, you should know this as you had your map done there, (or did you just get a flash map overwritten to your ECU?)
there are about 5 or so tuning companys that are now doing live laptop tuning through the OBD port (most other car manufactures have been doing this for years now) im supprised it took this long for the software boys to overcome it.
my friend gordon is getting his 530d (2007) laptop tuned next friday, on the rolling road, i suppose to be perdantic its called engine re-mapping, as opposed to "ecu re-mapping"
but its still re-mapping
you have a good day, and grab that beer.

I would never EVER go for a box.
A box just fools the original ECU into thinking it is burning too little fuel, there is too little air coming into the engine, etc...
A remap always knows the original values and can avoid dangerous settings (like too much fuel, turbo boost pressure too high, etc...)
I'm having a custom map done on monday and won't do anything else, my other car also had a custom map.
(BTW, after remapping the ECU, programming IS possible via the OBD port. I know, i've done it myself!)

thank you oversoft...good luck with your custom map, let us know the outcome/values.

I give up. You are obviously not reading my post properly. Time to move on
i have no need to call B&W
Not just autologic. I can list the tools that can remap the EDC16 thought OBD if you like

ok, ill quote you then paul...you said.........
You can't change a map through OBD. You need an emulator soldered onto the ecu. So sitting in the car adjusting with laptop through OBD is nonsense.
You cant change the map for different gears

ok, i read your post correctly and quoted you...FACT you CAN remap an E60 through the OBD2 port using a laptop (i have had it done twice)
FACT, you can map for specific (electronicaly controled) gears i have also had this done.
i give up.................

you then contradict yourself saying
"Not just autologic. I can list the tools that can remap the EDC16 thought OBD if you like "
thats what we were saying that you CAN do it ?????
Ok I maybe wrote it incorrectly. Sorry if i miss lead you.
YES you can flash the EDC16 We all know that
NO you cant change the map LIVE i.e. Plugging in a laptop and change parameters throught OBD. This can only be done with an emulator NOT just a laptop through ODB
You stated in your post they changed your map on the rollers through OBD. This CAN NOT be done.
You need to watch your m8's car getting done them report back

then the laptop had an emulator in it already..or prehaps i had one strapped to my ar*e
paul..you were not there, i was they DID live map my car while on the rolling road with a laptop connected to the cars OBD2 port, there was all manner of wires under the bonnet, a replacement MAF was also plugged in, there was a probe in the injection system, and one up both exhaust pipes.
most car tuners petrol and diesel (ECUTECH) especally do this all the time its old hat.
a friend of mine (mark) who maps exclusivly for superchips in uxbridge (at the rear of power engineering/torque of the devil) now live tunes BMW's with.....wait for it...his lap top, via the OBD2 port.
paramount performance also laptop tune via OBD for not only the EDC 16, but also EDC 17 in all BMW's
this is getting booring now, i know what i had done, and any tuners on here will know the same, you are guessing and you werent there..
please just do some research with the 3 tuners i have named and they will tell you that lap top tunning is now widely available via OBD2 (which you said was "nonsence")
FACT.
goodnight.
not replying anymore, so you can get your last word in

I am not knocking you or having a go at you I just dont like to see innocent members of the public wasting their cash.
You keep telling me all the cars that can be remapped through OBD. Yes I know them all. Live remapping is not possible through OBD. A lot more than just paramount do the edc17
If you are so convinced go speak to B&W write down the procedure then post back
The "nonsense" bit was referring to Live mapping through the OBD port, not Flashing the ecu.
As long as your tuner charged you the same for your "live" remap as a simple remap then nothing lost.
Not guessing
Not boring quite entertaining. Nothing wrong is a debate is there?

ECU remapped by ZipTuning to 260+bhp.
Got it remapped today, was done on a rolling road and while driving a couple of blocks.
I GUESS they took measurements while driving and alter them while standing still (engine turned off), but i can't be sure.
Anyway, have been remapped to 267bhp, 620NM torque. Haven't got a chance to test out the complete range yet (first 200 miles should be done gently, as the ECU and tranny are "learning to cope" with the new settings).
But it sure feels much more powerful, for sure in the bottom end. I'll let you know after this weekend when i get some "testing" done
