Sounds great!
To cut out the drone at the 1800-2000, you can have your friend build a helmholtz resonator.
You just need to measure the frequency range of the drone and then build the resonator.
Some reading for you:
Helmholtz Resonators
Here is an example of one on an exhaust for a nissan VQ

I did this on my old e90 325 and I loved it. I bet I'd love it more on my 545, but with the way my car sounds on cold starts...idk ...Anyone else with a 545 or 550 try this? I know a lot of them have issues with noisy cold starts, so Id like to now how that worked out when the muffler was deleted.

I just did a 'muffler delete' on my '04 545i and it certainly adds some V8 noise but the drone is *horrible*. I'm going straight back to stock and do not recommend getting it done. At least it was cheap. It's just tiring to listen to and it does not match a classy vehicle like a 5 series IMHO.
Part of spurred me to do something was taking an '05 Audi Allroad V8 for a spin and it sounded absolutely amazing with the stock exhaust. Something to consider next time I buy a car!
Oh well - you live and learn . . .

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one immune to "drones" I honestly don't even know what it is. Are you guys talking about the low RPM rumble??? ? I understand that on highway cruising the car chills around 2K-2.5K for long periods of time but that sound never really annoys me. I have a 535i with muffler delete and quad tips. I guess maybe I have a drone but I don't think it's very loud at all. I would imagine my inline turbo 6 is quieter than V8 tho...
