Fred, Do you have one of the newer iPOD where the TV Out has been locked? If so then buying the IVE1000 will not be much use.
I think I have the one you described which is iPod Classic. WTH.
However, I'm still using my G4 iPod at the moment. Still have Classic 160GB unused.
Thanks for the heads-up.

I have the bleeding edge technology iPod aka Classic version That's why I need to wait for new cradle/cable from Dension for this iPod Classic.

AVE1000 is on its way
Where do you hide your Dension unit?
Everything is tucked neatly and wraped with anti-shock sponge and cable ties underneath the glove compartment...i actually arranged the bluetooth adapter a bit further towards the body since the installation guide recommended it to be put away from the head unit...and all the connectors and switch are neatly routed and located inside the glove compartment...it looks as if it was factory fitted... i'll post up pictures soon...

The newest FW, v2.10 is just released.
Check Dension site:
http://support.dension.com/support-center/...t=12&id=110
I've just tried this upgrade on my Dension Gateway500...it seems that it doesn't work properly with my unit and the add-on accessories installed. I was on f/w 2.08 and it worked perfectly...

fyi, i've added the bluetooth adapter (BTA1000) and the AV Extender (IVE1000) with my GW500 but these accessories don't work with this f/w update ...iPod video won't play when in iPod UI mode, no picture nor sound present...even the iPod GW doesn't show the list of songs...(the songs play and i can still scroll songs via steering wheel button/i-drive knob but i can't see what song is being played...wtf! )

When i reset the unit, i get back the main menu under cd5 with the list of sources...but when selecting bluetooth audio or bt phone, a loud and continuous beep alert comes on...(i tried resetting and selecting this source a couple of times and i still get the same results...)

Since all the results were negative , i gave up and decided to downgrade the firmware back to f/w 2.08 (good thing that the downgrading procedure worked) and everything went back to normal...All worked well...

So, my conclusion, after trying to upgrade the unit twice and getting the same results - This firmware update is not stable yet for GW500+BTA1000+IVE1000 type of setup!!!

GW500 neatly fixed in glove compartment...

Before playing video on you GW500, you have to switch your iPod to video mode first...set the video output to TV Out and everything is ready and set...In Ipod menu, go to IPod UI mode...
Dension GW500+BTA1500+IVE1000-gw500_in_ipod_ui_mode.jpg

IPod video when in play mode, forward, rewind and paused...

Play

Forward
Dension GW500+BTA1500+IVE1000-forward.jpg
This is done by a long press of the up/next on steering wheel button

Rewind
Dension GW500+BTA1500+IVE1000-rewind.jpg
This is done by a long press of the down/previous button

Pause
Dension GW500+BTA1500+IVE1000-paused.jpg
Done by the press of the mute/pause button on HU or when you recieve a phone call via bluetooth (OEM BMW ULF@ Dension BTA1000) - the picture & sound freezes...
unlike DVD via ACM, the sound mutes, but the picture still plays due to aux being integrated while the DVD changer not...

You can also skip to next movie on playlist by briefly pressing the up/next button or back to the previous movie by a brief press down/previous button on steering wheel or the i-drive knob as per video attached:

Just bare in mind that this add-on accessory for the GW500 is currently only for the iPod 5G (30/60/80G-Apple has locked video-out capability for the later versions of the iPod. Dension is on their way to launch their newer generation IVE1xxx iPod video adapter which will unlock video-output for newer generation iPod's/iPhone...

In my case, i've tried updating to this version of the firmware update a couple of times...but, it always ends up with unstable results  ...so, until then, i'm still sticking with f/w ver 2.08

Problems that occur when GW500 updated :
(1)the playlist when in iPodGW mode doesn't come up even though songs on my iPod are being played.
(2)When in bluetooth audio mode, i don't get A2DP conectivity with "crystal clear" sound from paired devices... but instead, i get a "crystal clear long beep" ...
(3)And the worst thing is that iPod Video doesn't play - no sound nor picture...

I've made a complaint to support@dension and from their feedback, they said that they'll look into it and try their best to reply as soon as possible...which if i'm not mistaken has been a week.
