Hi!
All you need a Gateway500 and an AVR. The BMW diag computer at the dealer will recognise those as an iPod interface and a TV-Tuner.

Is the AVR the new module by Dension for videos ?
After enabling process you can watch iPod video on CCC.
.. ?

This is absolutely not the simpliest way!
If you don't have a CDC, all you need to do is to install Gateway 500 and at the dealer enable IPOD option (the similar one as for the OEM BMW iPod interface). The Gateway 500 fully identifies itself as an iPod interface so the diag comp won't realise the difference.
The other thing, if you have CDC and KMP3 option enabled, you don't need to visit the dealer as you can use Gateway 500 and orig CDC in paralell.

This is great news. I want to install GW500 and the only reason I haven't done so yet is because I'm waiting for a CDC in order to enable that option. According to what you set before I can install GW500 and then programed the car for ipod interface. Can I do the same with the bluetooth module (BTA1500), since my car is not currently equipped with this option?
Thanks GW500...thats great news....cant wait for the AVR unit....do you know when roughly it will be released?
Also will the AVR need to be wired into the back of the OEM screen or will it simply send its signals over the MOST bus? Just tryng to work out if I need to take the dash apart to fit the AVR unit. (which is the case with ACM and NavTV).
I suppose the tough bit is trying to get the dealer to enable it....I can see them complaining now "This is not an approved BMW part....etc etc". Also my gut feel is that they may force you to upgrade to the latest progman (which can be costly).
Lets wait and see....cant wait to try this out

Yes.

Yes.
"cant wait for the AVR unit....do you know when roughly it will be released?"
Soon.
"Also will the AVR need to be wired into the back of the OEM screen or will it simply send its signals over the MOST bus?"
You need to wire it to the back of the CCC.
If you want to use it with M-ASK then a 3rd-party video break-in module is needed at the iDrive screen.

Hello GW500 and everybody,
I need a detail information for declare BTA1500 to my car without bluetooth TCU. BMW dealer can declare bluetooth just with GW500+BTA1500 plugged or I need to plug in a TCU first, declare bluetooth interface, then plug off TCU to continue only with GW500+BTA1500. Thanks.

Ok I want the basic that GW500 has to offer not bluetooth not video.
So if I can convince my dealer to enable the cdc I can install and it will be plug n play correct. Is there anything else i have to do?
Does anyone know how much the dealer will charge just for the software upgrade?

Hey there GW500,
In my case, i have a CDC currently, and my single din cd slot plays MP3... so do i still have to go to the dealer to enable the IPOD option? as u said me in the PM? am a little confused.

I have a 2007 530xi, pre-wired for CDC but no CDC installed, the single CD plays MP3s, bluetooth currently works with my iphone 3G. No CDC shows up on the idrive display now.
My question is, will I need any BMW programming to my idrive to get the Gateway 500 to play and display music from my iphone 3G? One installer says there is an ouside chance I will need BMW re-programming, one says I definitley will need the re-programming. This is critical for me as I am not within driving distance to a dealership - I live in Juneau, Alaska, and don't want to spend the money on the unit and installation unless I defintely don't need BMW to program or enable the CD changer - as apparenty only a BMW dealer can do that.
