Update on what's going on with my spoiler...

The shop said they can sand it down, but the preparer that sanded down the clear coat reached the carbon fiber weave, so sanding it down is not an option.

So I decided to tell them to paint that section to match the bottom of the M5 mirrors. The black portion of the mirror.

I couldn't live with the spoiler just being completely silver grey.. so we'll see how it turns out later today.

I'm at work btw, and my pops when to drop off the car for me. I gave them pictures and everything.

excuse me if you've already touched on this, but i don't understand why you don't have them completely replace the deck lid - assuming they made the mistake?! you paid all that money and you're ending up not having it the way you want it?!

i'm not tellin' you this to rub salt on the wound, but i love how the CF inlay looks! it stands out and i think that's one of the major reasons why you decided to splurge for this deck lid.....i know it was one of mine!

Well, I know that is an option, but they aren't willing to do that. I spoke to them and said, sell this one and order another one and we'll paint that for free.

I really don't want to deal with the trouble and hassle of getting the spoiler in the first place. I waited a while to get it, and i don't really have time to get it right.

At this point. I think if i was in the west coast, it would definitely be easier to deal with this since most vendors are easier to deal with, along with shops.

Well, it sucks and you live and learn on not being specific on things.

I think the CF is definitely nice, but as long as they paint it the way I pictured it, it'll look really nice too.

I just hope they don't f*ck it up again.

Will post pics tonight.

I wish Darwin could have painted it for me! dammit.

Blah!

It is salt on the wound! Ohhh it burns...

LOL

Its ok guys. it does suck that this happened to me, but if this comes out the way i like it, it'll be nice too. Besides, from afar, CF looks black anyways!! lol.

they f'd up and they aren't willing to fix it?! what kind of shop did you go to? honestly, i think you're layin' down too easy on this shop. i would insist they replace it.

sorry to beat a dead horse, but you have the right to get what you paid for.

the only other reason i can think of is that you were the one that "forgot" to tell 'em 'bout leaving the CF inlay?!

trust me, i didn't forget to tell them. I think the guy forgot to tell the painter.

Regardless of who said what, they know they are at fault. I'll see the finished product, and if i'm not happy with it, i'm going to have them order another one.

*sigh* All this stress for a darn car.

Not possible vorsteiner can take the spoiler back and give me a new one eh? =D

you are too nice brotha! for as much money as we spend, we as consumers need to hold these vendors accountable for their mistakes. especially if you made it clear how you wanted the work to be completed.

good luck buddy, it'll all work out in the end! but don't let them "push" you into a situation you're not gonna be comfortable with.
