Guys, I have done the retofit and things are working well only need to have a programming session with Patryk. I have a question if we ever have to switch over to the CCC unit again for software updates from our dealer we need to put he old controller back in does any one have the wiring diagram? I did not keep any notes as to which wire goes where or where i moved the wires from. Any help appreciated.

Ok,I went back and re-read some posts I think i know how to re-wire the old idrive controller back if need be. But if someone has a diagram or pic showing the new vs. old setup it would be nice to have. I should have but got carried away with the install and the other issues that arose.

I'll be doing an easy swap setup ( Plug & play ) for the screen - LCI climate controller and CIC Idrive controller ,, I'm getting an extra connectors and pins for the CIC I-drive and the screen ,,so I don't have remove pins and swap wires from old connector to the new one ,,, Thanks to Patryk for his support in this ...

will post some pictures once I start with my installation ..

Pretty good idea with additional connectors if you think you might be visiting your dealer frequently
I did not think about it before, so thanks to Ehssan I can include those parts in all new orders.

On a side note, I had a pleasure of meeting Ehssan (and his fantastic car ) personally so if there is anybody wondering who the hell this Patryk guy is, if he really exists, what if I send him my money, etc. I am sure Ehssan can confirm I am real Thanks Ehssan for your hospitality.

loool , guys believe me , Patryk does exist and he loves Arabic Kabab too ,,
it was my pleasure meeting you Patryk , it was so much fun time we spent and i hope to meet up with you again soon ,, and you are most welcome anytime and offcourse any other members too , you are most welcome anytime in Dubai ( but stay away from Dubai between July till October , it's between 40 to 50C ) ..

back to the topic : I still have complete 2 years warranty on my M5 , so i'm sure one day i will have to swap the CIC with the CCC for dealer visit ,,, and I wanted it to be clean fast swap , I already secured a spare center console trim from an pre-LCI for the CCC I-drive controller , which is the only part I will not be able to use from the CIC retrofit after cutting the trim to fit the CIC I-drive controller ..

will get you a lot of photos before - during swap - after swap .. i can't wait to receive my CIC kit

Thumbs up

Hi guys,

Can the people who did the CiC retrofit and have a Dension 500 help me figure something out?
It seems Dension Gateway 500 has several versions that are all called the same but are different in several things. The old one has 4 dip switches while the new one has 6 dip switches, also the it seems the MOST connection plug is different.

Can you tell me what you have:
- Does your Dension still work after the retrofit
- What Dension 500 do you have
- What is your MY

I've been in contact with the Dension people and I'd like to verify if the new version works for the CiC while the old one doesn't.

Thanks

Thanks

Mine is the new one on your picture with 6 dip switches. I have a LCi Aug 2007 E60.

As I said in post #473, I am having some problems after the retrofit:

I am able to hear the music from my iPod, but the screen doesn't show the artists or song name or album. It just goes on an infinite loop with the status bar thingy, and a greyed out line saying "please wait..."

This is when I set the Dipswitches to #1,2,6 as per Text enabled E60.

Then I tried to use the configuration for E90 with iDrive-4 (#2,3,4,6). Same.

The only setting that seemed to work is the Porsche PCM config (#2,3,6)! While most functions work, I get an "unknown artist" at the top row where the artist is supposed to be....

When I am at CD1 (Scan Playlists), I click it using the new controller, and it shows my playlists. After selecting Playlist 1, for example, it starts playing the first song in it, but doesn't go to the song list. I have to separately press and hold the Forward button (Down arrow on the right side of the steering wheel) before it will get me into the songlist.

Great that you are contacting Dension, cos they have not replied me. Please post any new info which you may have! Cheers!
